About Tone & Tailor
By Aūna Millér
My introduction to men’s style began as a child watching my father get dressed.
He was a principal in the Pittsburgh school district and a man who believed in presentation. During the school year it was tailored suits. In the summer, made-to-measure casual wear. But the moment I remember most was his ritual of buying Italian shoes. The smell of the leather, the shine after polishing them, and visits to his tailor in Braddock, Pennsylvania left a lasting impression on me.
Years later that fascination resurfaced online. In 2013 I began curating menswear ensembles on social media under the name Gents Style Files, pairing suits, ties, and luxury footwear from brands like Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford. The work quickly gained attention—especially when people realized the person behind the styling was a woman.
That platform opened doors to workshops, styling opportunities, and collaborations across the fashion world.
In 2023 my creativity expanded into digital art, with work appearing in the Pittsburgh mayor’s office during Black History Month and in an episode of Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+. That experience eventually brought me back to where it all began: menswear.
Today, through Tone & Tailor, I write editorial reviews exploring luxury footwear, craftsmanship, and modern men’s style—often highlighting the elegance and presence of well-dressed Black men.
Because great style isn’t loud.
It’s intentional.
